Joining in this forum a bit late. I've been on AZine since April but only just found this local Vancouver forum.

We have an '05 TL Dynamic (6MT) in Anthracite. We picked it up in April to replace my wife's old car. She drives the TL mostly, but when we're in it together I drive.

We got the 3rd gear TSB done in late June. 3rd gear is great now but recently we've had a some slight hang up going into 1st. I plan to put in the GMSFM soon.

The TL was stock when we got it but since then I've installed Richie's V2 J-Pipe and Test Pipe, cut off the stock mufflers and installed 5x8 oval Magnaflows. I didn't want to take a chance on it being loud so went conservative first.

Noise level is almost identical to stock (stock mufflers seem to hardly do any sound muffling as car was still quiet - we tested it after cutting off the stock ones) so I may remove the mid muffler next. I also wanted to remove the bit of restriction that the stock mufflers imposed.

Suspension-wise I installed the '07-'08 Type S MT A-Spec kit 2 weeks ago. The stock shocks were feeling weak so I was able to justify buying the kit, especially at the recent clear out price of $375Cdn. Install wasn't too bad; took me about 5hrs.

Next is to get the 245/40-18 tires I have in storage mounted on the 18x8 Ronal R41s I picked up 2 months ago, but depending on when the snow hits they may not go on until spring.

I'm currently shopping for some 235/45-17 snows to put on the stock '05 TL rims. If you guys know of any great deals, new or used, let me know. I will also be getting rid of the MT stock spring/shock assemblies.

I'll post pics up in the 3G TL forum when the tires are put on.

Seems like most of the members here are in the Vancouver or Richmond area. I'm in Coquitlam so don't get down that way very often. I'll try to drop in at the next local meet.

Hey everyone,

Wondering if any of you know where i can find a replacement bulb for my 06 TL... even at my wife's cost (she works for Honda) its $151.00 which i think is a rip off for a bulb replacment.

Low Beam HID Bulb?!

Try Ebay, look for PIAA HID bulbs or something.

Thats a stock Acura bulb... from Acura parts department.. my wife works as a manager for Surrey Honda.. so we get everything at staff discount... i almost fell off my chair when the parts guy told me the price..

I called him he said $60 for 1 .... Phillips brand... so its still better then what i was paying at Acura... Wife still driving the car on a daily basis... so I think i stick to the stock 43k for now.. and in the spring i will upgrade them to 8k

Hey bud,

OEM HID bulb replacement cost $225 per bulb at Acura. I have a pair of OEM 4300k if you are interested. I also have a pair of Kaixen 6500k(purple hue) if you are interested too. OEM's are used only 4months. PM me if you are interested.

so far, i've only done tints. 20% on the rear and 50% on the front. don't think i'll be doing anything major for a while. i got laid off at my job and now i'm going back to school full time...so money is pretty tight these days.

i do need to replace my tires soon, before the snow comes. can anybody out there recommend a good place?

welcome to the laid off club as well im also not gettin shifts from work
and about tires your best bet is to go to states because there half the price
my buddy with a 2006 altima got a set of 4 michelin x-ice2 snow tires 215/60/r16 for 550 installed and everything from costco in bellingham

over here they gave him a estimate of 1000 bucks for tires

ya, that was my plan B. it's totally cheaper down there. I might take a trip down the border this weekend.

Do u have much trouble in the snow with car being lowered and the under body kit? debating weather or not to keep the car on the road for the winter

yeah i just bought one today, gonna install it tmr with the service n everything. im not even sure about the warranty, the cars out of warranty so i guess the battery is too, LOL

when it snows, i might as well work for the city of vancouver. Im an instant plow

i hate the TL in snow..too big and too heavy..i dont drive unless i need to..otherwise, i aint risking writing off my car...

I had some problems last year.. and the car wasn't lowered then... almost got stuck in Kelwona after Christmas.. luckily boxing day was nice and sunny so i kicked it home, only to come home and find that city of Surrey decided that my street was at the bottom of the totem pole to plow... it took me 3 hours to get to Surrey from Kelowna... but it took me another 2 hours to get the car 2 blocks into my garage ..

Try Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3. It is V speed rated snow tire, and performs like a performance summer tire in the dry. It could be the best dry handling performance snow tire to day.

It isn't the best deep-snow snow tire available, but will handle Vancouver winters (even the nasty ones last winter) and Whistler trips without a problem.
